Thank you to everyone who made the 14th Annual Dulles 5K/10K on the Runway an incredible success!

Held on August 29, 2026, this one-of-a-kind event gave runners and walkers the rare opportunity to take to an actual runway at Washington Dulles International Airport. Participants entered through the Smithsonian’s Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center before experiencing one of the area’s flattest and fastest courses—running alongside aircraft and across airport grounds normally off-limits to the public.

The 2026 race drew approximately 2,789 registered participants, with 91% checking in and participating. Together with spectators, more than 3,000 people came through the Udvar-Hazy Center for race day. Participants traveled from across the country—and even internationally—to be part of this unique Dulles tradition.

More than just a race, the Dulles 5K/10K brings together the aviation and Northern Virginia communities while supporting Special Olympics Virginia, the Committee for Dulles Community Outreach, and the Washington Airports Task Force.
